How many Massive Adventures adventure cycle races have you taken part in overall?
Only ever done the Durban Dash
What you’re most looking forward to on the race this year?
The thing I most look forward to on a ride like this Joburg to Cape Town are the vast open spaces and the small towns with the most incredible people and stories. I absolutely love seeing life in the small towns. It puts things in perspective. On Munga the most special time of day was dusk and at night. Extreme silence and the most magical skies.
We are so lucky and fortunate to have events like this.
Tell us your cycling story?
I ride because I love sport. I like the challenge, a goal, time out and most importantly I like taking the road less travelled.
Cycling was a natural progression. I grew up playing tennis and ended up on a tennis scholarship in the USA and finished with a four year degree.
After children and with work I started running – 12 Comrades and several other trail runs and marathons. I needed something that took me to places I would not be able to normally see or get to – so Mountain biking became my love and my passion.
Having done 4 Epics, 4 Joberg2C, 4 Cape Pioneers, Munga and several others I found that I could find events that ticked my box. I love a sense of adventure and endurance and I love doing it for a cause. That Cause is Animal Welfare. To raise funds that fight animal cruelty.
